The Conversation is the dream that many adoptees think about when wondering
what their life would have looked like
had they not been adopted. On the left is non-adoptee XiWei having a conversation with adoptee XiWei. This piece explores alternate outcomes. This painting calls into question what could have happened. What differences could there have been in her life had she not been adopted? How can these two life outcomes converse? Art gives XiWei permission to explore, wonder, grieve, and celebrate her journey.
